Forest Dweller by CharlotteXXI Forest Dweller by CharlotteXXI
I hate using the color green and I hate drawing foliage. Last time I attempted drawing those things it ended up looking like shiiiiiiit :iconotlplz:

Getting better though. Also I tried painting with both Photoshop and SAI for this, and I absolutely love the result. Used Photoshop for the textured brushes, and SAI for the details (with the handy stabilizer). A bit of a pain switching back and forth though.

Unlike the usual forest city artworks where people build houses spiraling around trees, I had this forest city made of artificially elevated lands, with a deep forest underneath it. Some trees are too tall and huge that they have to leave holes to let those trees pass through. And I have no idea how the trees underneath perform photosynthesis.

Tools: SAI, Photoshop.

I love so much the "feeling" I get when looking at it. :love: "if I'd be there, I could do anything"! :love:

The colours are calm but catchy, and the light source is very well placed, creating a truly lovely atmosphere. :clap:
The perspective is amazing! :wow: It's quite unique, as I find it interesting to live in such a forest city! :giggle:

What I truly love about this piece is how the light falls on the branch the character sits on. It creates a contrast, making the piece more delightful to look at! :clap:

The character is GORGEOUS!
I think her arms are a little too small though, I feel something is off around her chest. She appears to be a bit stiff, in my opinion. Considering her right arm should be between her legs (looking where the weapon is), I think it could be placed lower.

Technique :
I really like how it looks like it's painted and in the same time a bit sketchy, and IT'S FULL OF DETAIL! :love: I see a great amount of patience put here! :woohoo:
I think that a bit more of "definition" for the trees in the background could make it have more impact, like a darker tone... or cleaner strokes?

I love so much the feathers, they're a wonderful touch.

Your piece has made quite an impact on me with the gorgeous view and the gentle colours.:love: :love: :love: Truly inspiring.

Please don't hesitate asking me for further questions, or, if you don't agree with something I've said, I'm more than happy to clarify and/or correct myself. ^^;

I love this, the feathers drifting, and the light on her where she is up there, and the darker town below....
